The ARx AI Headset is an AI-enabled talking camera, designed to enhance the lives of people who are blind or have low vision. It connects seamlessly to either an Android or iOS smartphone through a dedicated app, translating visual information into audio descriptions.
Key features
The ARx AI headset has built in bone conduction headphones – which allows you to hear the headset with open ear audio. The AI enabled camera is connected to data by using the smartphone via Bluetooth connection. The headset also has tactile button controls which allows the user easy access to the controls. But it also has voice control on some functions which allows hands free operation.
What makes it great
The open-source ARx AI Headset has a growing App catalogue available. The primary use is for the user to access visual information environment to be translated into audio descriptions. But with AI the device offers more optional hands-free experiences in many different ways. The headset is comfortable to wear, simple and intuitive to use with minimal training involved and affordable. It can be used anywhere – at home, education or employment setting, outdoors/indoors, for leisure and when you are out and about e.g. grocery shopping or at a restaurant.
Who would benefit
The headset is designed for individuals with minimal functional vision but would be best for those who are familiar with using a smartphone as it presents less of a learning curve to operate.
The ARx AI Gen1.5 Headset would benefit people of all ages who have access to a modern smartphone. This includes, students (education), working professional (employment) and the elderly/seniors (retirees) as the user can access any visuals in their current setting/environment/room and have it audio described. So, you can use it at home, school, work, outdoors (out and about) and for leisure.
