Event description

Each year, millions of children across the country come together in libraries, schools, early learning centres, bookshops and family homes, for National Simultaneous Storytime.  Everyone gathering to read the same book, on the same day, creating a sense of community from a shared love of reading.

This year, the chosen book is ‘Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller’, an underdog story about believing in yourself despite the odds. This inspiring story follows Luna Roo, the new captain of FC Outback, as she and her team compete against Bush United in the Animal World Cup. “Some people think Luna Roo is too small and too new to be captain, but can she find her inner strength and prove them wrong?”

Vision Australia’s Feelix Library invites our youngest readers to join us online, for this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime. We are hosting an accessible reading of ‘Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller’ enhanced with audio descriptions of the beautiful illustrations of Australian animals competing and cheering for the Animal World Cup.

Join us online for a celebration of reading, learning, and community alongside millions of children across Australia.

Create your own tactile book

At the Feelix Library, our storybook kits include a handmade tactile book, enabling children to experience the story through their sense of touch.

We have produced instructions for you to create your very own tactile book to read during this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime. You can create your tactile version of ‘Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller’ using household items easily sourced at home.
