The Library team are excited to invite you to join us for the launch of a new program for 2025. In response to requests from our library members, we are proud to reveal the wonderful people behind the voices in our audio books.
For many of our library members, the Vision Australia Narrators are more than a recorded voice - they are an ongoing part of their lives.
They are the voice that safely steered us through terrifying crime fiction novels. The voice that comforted us as we cried in romance novels. The voice that stoically journeyed with us through horror fiction. Through it all, the voice that kept us company and made us laugh.
This is your opportunity to discover the person behind that multi-talented voice. We’ll delve into the journey that led them to narrating at Vision Australia. Then our narrator will choose a passage from their chosen novel and treat us to a live reading for 20 minutes. We’ll finish with a lively Q&A, while our narrator fields a myriad of questions posted by our library members.
Our guest narrator, Marilyn Barclay
Our first guest narrator is Marilyn Barclay. Marilyn commenced volunteering at Vision Australia Radio in 2016 and has recorded nearly 50 books for the Library. Presented with the rare opportunity to choose her own book to narrate, Marilyn has chosen This is Happiness by Niall Williams.
We encourage all our members to submit questions for Marilyn during the registration process, or via the chat during the online event.
