The Vision Australia Library are proud to launch our 2025 Calendar of Events with our In Conversation with Emily Maguire. Emily is an exciting voice in the Australian literary world, having published an outstanding portfolio of work, featuring seven novels, three non-fiction books and a wealth of articles and essays.

About Emily Maguire
Emily is an award-winning author, her most recent accolades include being shortlisted for the Stella Prize, Miles Franklin Literary Award the Australian Book Industry Awards Literary Fiction Book of the Year. In October 2024 Emily released her latest book Rapture, described as “an astonishing, transformative and audacious novel that confirms Emily Maguire as one of our finest writers”.
In addition to publishing highly esteemed novels, Emily continues to write for many of Australia’s leading mastheads. Her articles and essays on sex, feminism and culture have been published widely across Australia, inspiring thought provoking and valuable debate.
As a teacher, mentor and writing coach, Emily has worked with hundreds of writers over the past fifteen years. Her dedication to nurturing and supporting Australian writers to achieve their goals, helps develop the next generation of authors across Australia.
