LEAP registrations doubled between 2019 to 2020 and from 2020 to 2021 they more than doubled again. LEAP is certainly gaining the attention of our young people!
What is LEAP you might ask?
LEAP is Vision Australia’s employability and leadership program for young people. With activities like resume writing, job interviewing, and learning how to speak with confidence, LEAP is the program for young people who want to craft themselves a great future.
As more young people enroll in LEAP, we are making the program bigger and better. Read on to find out three exciting additions to LEAP.
LEAP Online!
LEAP participants now have LEAP Online to keep themselves proactive on their LEAP journey! This online course is where LEAPsters can connect with peers on the interactive Discussion Board, keep up to date with program announcements, and prepare ahead with monthly content, tasks and activities.
Mentor Support
At LEAP, we value young people supporting young people. Sometimes our LEAPsters want support from someone like them – a fellow young person in the program. Introducing… our two LEAP 2020 Graduate Mentors Sarah Benoy and Caitlin Hannen-Williams! Our Graduate Mentors are excited to support, encourage, problem solve, and chat to our LEAPsters when they need it.
Technology sessions
Teaching technology… it’s not a strong point for many of us. Instead, we’ve brought on board our talented Assistive Technology team to deliver THREE one-on-one 90-minute technology sessions. Navigating the web, using email, calendar, and Zoom, engaging with social media, and improving their assistive technology use are some of the topics our LEAP participants will cover.
LEAP Program continues to support each participant to build important skills in employability and leadership. With the additions of LEAP Online, mentor support, and technology sessions, LEAP is expanding into a more robust, supportive, and rewarding program.
