During May, Vision Australia takes time out to celebrate the work of our much valued volunteers, our partners in the community and our deserving further education bursary recipients.

This year, we held 32 Mornings of Celebration events at Vision Australia centres and out and about in the community.

During these events 926 volunteer service pins  were awarded, the highest being for 45 years of service.

Ron Hooton presents Topia Ryan Jones with a brailled bursary certificateWe also presented 10 Making a Difference Awards and six Certificates of Appreciation to local community members and congratulated 24 Further Education Bursary Awards recipients.

Local media was invited to attend, and coverage included a great interview on WIN television in Shepparton with Ron Hooton and 10 year Vision Australia Radio volunteer Rod Kilgour.

In addition, we were able to recognise the tremendous support of our volunteers through a Letter to the Editor that was published in in regional and metropolitan press.

Feedback from Vision Australia staff, volunteers, community partners and donors alike indicated that the event is a wonderful opportunity to develop relationships and establish links with others.
