Vision Australia Orientation and Mobility Specialists, in conjunction with Yarra Trams, Ventura Buses and Public Transport Victoria, are holding two travel safety programs on June 19 and July 1.

This is an excellent education opportunity for people who are blind or have low vision to gain confidence in using public transport with a stationary tram, train or bus.

It’s an opportunity to practice getting on and off a stationary tram or train, gather tips to find a seat easily, and a chance to explore the layout of the train, tram or bus.

The session on July 1 has been organised for the school holidays to also provide the opportunity for high school aged-clients to attend.

It is also an opportunity to talk directly to the public transport staff  to express any concerns and difficulties with using public transport.
