Support services for people who are blind or have low vision are about to become more accessible in Melbourne’s north. From Monday 1 July, Vision Australia will be providing a range of weekly services by appointment at the Epping Community Services Hub for people of all ages.

Services by appointment will include allied health services, orthoptics, occupational therapy, technology access, and a range of orientation and mobility programs.

Regional business manager north east and outer eastern Melbourne for Vision Australia, Paul Warwick says the initiative is all about making it easier for people to access the services they need in the northern suburbs.

“This is a rapidly growing area and for many people in the Whittlesea community and northern suburbs who are blind or have low vision, accessing the crucial services they need often requires a long commute.

“At the moment, people in the northern suburbs have had to travel as far as Ringwood or Kooyong, which can be challenging.”

“A weekly service at the Epping Hub will mean that people will have the option of accessing the support and services they need much closer to home.”

The Epping Community Services Hub is located at: 713 High St, Epping VIC 3076.

Appointments can be booked via Vision Australia’s Ringwood office on 9760 0000 or email [email protected].
