Talking Vision is Vision Australia's national radio program on blindness and low vision.

In the program for the week of January 19, we have information for the Queensland blind and low vision community in the run up to the state election and a TEDx address from a blind Australian at a United Nations event in Geneva. With polling day for the QLD election as soon as January 31, we bring you information on arrangements for voters who are blind or have low vision wishing to exercise a secret and independent vote. Vision Australia’s Karen Knight, explains the options for Queenslanders of telephone voting and e-Assist. Immediate past President of the World Blind Union and Vision Australia leadership team member Maryanne Diamond gave a TEDx talk at an international event at Geneva in early December 2014. We bring you that address, comprising Maryanne’s life story through to the 2013 signing of the Marrakesh Books across Boundaries Treaty which she led on behalf of the WBU.

Program participants this week are:
  • Karen Knight, General Manager Queensland Client Services with Vision Australia;
  • Maryanne Diamond AO, General Manager Advocacy and Engagement with Vision Australia.
