In the program for the week of December 2, we begin by finding out about services to children and their family offered by Vision Australia and then we mark International Day of People with a Disability by exploring how the Human Rights Commission views inclusion of people with a disability in the Australia of today. The manager of Vision Australia’s Children’s Services introduces us to the scope and organisation’s approach of addressing the needs of young children who are blind or have low vision. Following this conversation, it’s welcome back the national Disability Discrimination Commissioner for some personal reflections of his experiences and some advice on what we all can do to overcome access barriers to services and other activities that most Australians can enjoy.

Guests this week are:
  • Tracy Larsen White, Manager Children’s Services with Vision Australia;
  • Graeme Innes AM, Disability Discrimination Commissioner with the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Also this week, Frances Keyland from the Vision Australia Library, previews another title in Reader Recommended.
