Vision Australia is the charity partner of this year's Melbourne Swisse Color Run, which will be held on November 24.

Vision Australia will receive the proceeds from the Melbourne event, which will go towards vital low vision services for people who are blind or have low vision.

Vision Australia’s low vision services includes low vision clinics, where education and vision assessments are provided, and services that equip people who are blind or have low vision with the skills to maintain an independent life through orientation and mobility, technology training, quality living groups and recreational day programs.

CEO of Vision Australia, Ron Hooton, said the funds raised from this event will make an enormous difference to Australians who are blind or have low vision.

“This is a family-friendly event, which fits well with Vision Australia’s values. We support families with infants and small children and help them prepare for school and higher education to employment and training. Vision Australia provides the advice and support to help people through every life stage,” he said.

A Vision Australia team will also be participating in the event and will be available on the day to offer more information about the services it offers.

The 5km fun run with a colourful twist will be held at Flemington Racecourse. Thousands of Color runners are expected to burst through yellow, blue, orange and pink ‘Color Zones’ before all the colours of the rainbow are showered upon them during the ‘Finish Festival’.

Registrations are now open for the ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet’ in Melbourne at http://thecolorrun.com/australia/melbourne/

The event will kick off at 9am Sunday, November 24, 2013, with runners released across the start line in waves of around 1000 approximately every few minutes, through until around 10.30am. Entries for the event in Melbourne will be limited to 20,000 and is expected to sell out fast.
