Our panellists
Sarah Hartley - Vision Australia advocacy advisor
Sarah is a lawyer and has worked in state government across areas including access and equity, adult community education and contract management. She has also worked in community legal centres.
At Vision Australia, Sarah provides support and advice to individuals facing barriers to participation in the community due to their blindness and low vision. In addition, she works with the Vision Australia advocacy and engagement team to address system wide barriers in the community.
Susan Thompson - Vision Australia advocacy advisor
Susan is based in Sydney has been an advocacy advisor with Vision Australia for more than 11 years, following 20 years with the Australian Broadcasting Authority.
Susan has been blind all her life and prior to joining Vision Australia’s Advocacy team, cut her teeth in advocacy through her long involvement with Blind Citizens Australia from a young age.
Janet Renew - Vision Australia advocacy advisor
Janet joined Vision Australia’s Advocacy team in 2016 after working as a lawyer for 20 years in government and private practice in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Based in Queensland, Janet works with people who are blind or have low vision when they have been discriminated against due to their disability, including supporting clients when they appear before the Anti-Discrimination Commission and represents Vision Australia at key transport committees.
