This is a great opportunity to ensure students have a handle on tertiary study and what will be expected. It's a chance to get advice on supports available for students with a vision impairment, or other disability and how to get the best results from your studies.
The Kickstart program has been developed for current and prospective tertiary and further education students who are blind or have low vision.
The program will include a workshop on Advocacy and Rights in Tertiary Education presented conjointly by Blind Citizens Australia and Vision Australia.This workshop will be presented on Friday 14 February 10am to 12noon (Australia Eastern Daylight savings Time) via teleconference as well as face to face.
If you can only make the teleconference please contact the Tertiary Education Consultant, who will send you telephone details closer to the date.
We will endeavour to match new tertiary students with a mentor who has studied a similar course, so if you would like us to do this please let us know when you register what you will be studying and if you are attending in person please let us know whether you have any dietary requirements.

- Learn about the Disability Discrimination Act and your rights as a student.
- Improve your writing and study skills for assignments.
- Learn about new adaptive technology.
- Meet other students and professionals who are blind or have low vision who can be of assistance to you.
- Learn strategies for completing study with a view to improving employment prospects.
