Maryanne Diamond, General Manager Advocacy and Engagement, Vision Australia presented ‘An Information Revolution for the Blind’ at TEDxPlaceDesNations in Geneva, Switzerland last month.

Maryanne Diamond presents at the TEDxPlaceDesNationsTEDxPlaceDesNations showcased the remarkable stories of people helping people. The presenters were drawn from Geneva’s myriad of international organisations, including innovators, humanitarians, entrepreneurs, scientists and peacemakers. Each spoke about how they are finding solutions to today's challenges and helping to shape tomorrow's world.

Maryanne’s talk focused on the importance of the Marrakesh Treaty. The treaty will provide hundreds of millions of people around the world who are blind, have low vision or are print disabled with access to more books published in accessible formats including large print, braille or audio.

Maryanne’s presentation covered the steps that need to be taken for the treaty to be ratified and implemented by all governments. This policy story was told through her personal experience as a blind person who has had little access to books throughout her life.
