Thanks to her  persistence when attending Vision Australia’s iPad classes, 78-year old vision Evelyn Reynolds can now use an iPad with ease.

Learning to use an I Pad has opened up a new world for Evelyn. She now accesses the internet, sends emails and even plays games. In fact, most evenings Evelyn plays an online scrabble game with her niece.

There is a large range of adaptive technology available to people who are blind or have low vision.

Evelyn has undergone three cataract operations and now lives with very poor vision. She can no longer drive and reading is difficult. Thankfully Vision Australia’s many services have increased Evelyn’s quality of life.

Aside from iPad classes Evelyn has engaged other Vision Australia services including a program called “Get Up and Go” where she has participated in Line Dancing, Thai Chi and Ten Pin Bowling.

iPad knowledge, like all knowledge, is never complete. Evelyn is visited every few months by an adaptive technology trainer from Vision Australia who teaches her new tips and keeps her iPad savvy.
