A blooming good time was had by all at Vision Australia’s Enfield site on Thursday 7 November where 65 people from Vision Australia’s Sydney Local Client Groups gathered to enjoy sports and recreation activities, lunch and morning tea.

The day, which was called the Blooming Good Day Out, started with morning tea after which the clients separated into two groups.

One group partook in sports activities such as tandem cycling, lawn bowls, and cricket, while the other engaged in a trivia contest won narrowly by the formidable Eggheads team.

The bikes were provided by ExSight Tandem Cycling Sydney and proved a major hit with clients and staff alike.

“One of our favourite moments was seeing a wonderful 86 year old client on the back of a tandem bike going for a spin!” said Cassandra Strakosch, Client Consultant and Engagement Advisor at Enfield.

Lawn bowls were also popular thanks to the contribution of the New South Wales Vision Impaired and Blind Bowlers Association.

Following lunch on the Terrace hosted by Vision Australia’s Fundraising team, the clients again split into two groups, one taking in an audio described movie, the other going for a walk through Henley Park.

“We had lots of positive feedback,” said Cassandra, “people were asking us to do it all again next year.”

Kirsten McCombie, who also works in the Client Consultation and Engagement, states her highlight of the day to be: “Seeing members of different Local Client Groups connecting with each other and making plans to keep in contact into the future.”

Coming up at Vision Australia Enfield are Christmas cooking classes. Find out more on our events page.
