About these programs
Vision Australia’s therapy group programs give children and young people who are blind or have low vision the opportunity to build essential life skills in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.
Through engaging, play‑based activities, children develop motor skills, communication and social confidence while learning alongside peers with shared experiences.
Group settings encourage teamwork, friendship and emotional growth, helping children feel a sense of belonging as they practice new skills that support participation at home, school and in the community.

Participation requirements
We’re really looking forward to welcoming your child to our program. To help everyone have a safe, positive and enjoyable experience, there are a few important things to be aware of before attending.
Supervision and participation
Most of our programs are offered as drop-off programs, where children are supported by our staff for the duration of the session.
Some programs are designed for parents, carers and other family members to stay and participate alongside their child. This will always be clearly stated in the program information.
For drop-off programs, children need to be comfortable participating independently in a small group setting.
Personal care and medication
For drop-off programs, children need to be able to manage toileting independently.
Unfortunately, our staff are not able to assist with toileting or personal care.
We are also unable to administer medication during programs. If medication is required during the session, please talk with us before registering so we can explore parent pop ins to ensure comfort and compliance with medical needs.
Arrival and pick up
Please arrive on time at the start of the program so your child can settle in comfortably with the group.
Prompt pick up at the end of the session is important, as staff may be moving on to other commitments.
Staying connected
Parents and carers need to be available by mobile phone for the full duration of the program, in case we need to get in touch.
Please make sure we have your current contact details before the program begins.
What to bring
If the program runs over mealtimes, please pack a suitable lunch or snacks as outlined in the program information.
For outdoor activities, please ensure your child comes prepared with appropriate sun protection, such as a hat and sunscreen.
Children are welcome to bring any mobility aids, assistive devices or other supports they usually use.
Our commitment to inclusion
We are an inclusive service and aim to create welcoming, supportive environments for all children and families.
If your child has specific needs, strengths or considerations you’d like us to know about, we encourage you to share this with us ahead of time. This helps us plan thoughtfully and, where possible, make reasonable adjustments to support participation.
If you’re unsure whether a program is the right fit, we’re always happy to have a conversation and work through options together.
We appreciate your partnership and look forward to spending time with your child in a safe, engaging and supportive program.
