We all have a fascinating story in our family that needs to be told. But how to begin? Where do you source a framework of facts? Who should you speak to, when the knowledge gaps look like chasms?
Vision Australia Library’s three-week course will focus on finding your story, how to paint a portrait of your ancestor’s world, and telling your story.
National Family History Month is fast approaching, so the timing couldn’t be better!

About the presenter
Jonathan Butler is an Australian writer and content producer. His debut book, The Boy In The Dress, was shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year 2022 (non-fiction) and was the winner of Best True Crime in the 2023 Danger Awards. Researching his ancestor’s story has ignited a passion for family and queer history - a passion Jonathan is keen to share with our library members.
This is an encore performance for Jonathan, having received overwhelming praise the Family History Workshop he hosted for Vision Australia Library in 2023. His three-week course draws on Jonathan’s own experience researching and writing about his ancestors. Jonathan is a generous presenter, with a wealth of knowledge to share with our members.
