Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.
Sam is joined this week by Leeanne and Sarah from the Vision Australia Library, who tell us all about the latest events coming up, some new books library users can look forward to, and a new online video series encouraging viewers to get fit and active.
The library is partnering up with Australia Reads to hold a panel entitled Representation Matters.
The panel is taking place on March 16 featuring blind surfer Matt Formston, who is the main figure in the first book of the Big Visions series, coming out later this month.
“We’ll be discussing the importance of representations of disability in publishing, and this is where Matt and Vision Australia come in as we’ve been working together to launch the Big Visions book series,” Leeanne said.
“This of course features Australians who are blind or have low vision who are doing great things and celebrating those stories,” she said.
The Let’s Move video series has also recently kicked off, and Sarah shared all the details around the videos designed to get kids and young people up and moving, getting active and fit.
“As you can tell from the title it’s all about moving our bodies but it also covers so many things around health and wellbeing,” Sarah said.
“There’s two videos up on the library website already but keep an eye out for more coming up every week or so over the next month.”
