Vision Australia Radio nominated for four CBAA awards

28 October 2020

Vision Australia Radio has been named as finalists for four awards at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) 2020 Community Radio Awards.

Nominations were received for Excellence in News and Current Affairs Programming, Best Radio Program – Talks, Best Special Event Broadcast and Outstanding Volunteer Contribution highlighting the diverse, quality content produced by the station.

Vision Australia CEO Ron Hooton congratulated Vision Australia Radio’s staff and volunteers for their hard work and commitment to bringing such an important service to the blind and low vision community.

“Vision Australia Radio provides such a crucial service to not only our community of listeners who are blind or have low vision, but also those with a print disability across Australia,” Ron said.

“Those nominated are prime examples of the strength and diversity of the community radio sector, and the ways in which all of them have always remained true to the blind and low vision community. It’s incredibly pleasing to see their work be acknowledged and rewarded, and we wish them all the very best for the upcoming week.”

Vision Australia manager of radio and audio services Conrad Browne has observed first-hand the challenges each team have faced this year, and extends his thanks and appreciation to all who have helped keep listeners connected and engaged with Vision Australia Radio’s programming.

“Vision Australia Radio are proud and honoured to have been nominated in four categories alongside so many worthy contenders. This is a testament to the wide range of quality content Vision Australia Radio produces, and the importance it has and will continue to have for the blind and low vision community.

“This would not be possible though without our dedicated staff and volunteers, and my congratulations and best wishes go out to Matthew, Stephen, David, Peter and Jason, as well as the countless others involved who make all of this possible,” Conrad said.
