Discussion topics

Escaping your house in a fire

Do you know how to safely evacuate your home if there is a fire inside? Learn about the latest smoke alarm research, understand more about how fires start inside and how you can stay safe.

Preventing fires starting inside

Most house fires start in the kitchen, learn some key tactics on how to prevent them starting and how to suppress them if they do start. Come inside a house and visit all the rooms to check out all the hot spots and where fires are likely to start and how you can prevent them starting.

Bushfires in Victoria

Victoria has a history of catastrophic bushfires since European settlement. Learn why this is and what drives this type of fire behaviour in our environment.  Learn about the difference between grassfires and bushfires and how they spread. Hear stories of how people make decisions in a bushfire and what CFA wants people to do.

Fire safety from your perspective

Can you help CFA learn what is meaningful and useful to you, in regards to fire safety. After being part of the last three sessions, what is most useful to you?  How does having low vision impact on your fire safety?  Can you teach us?  What are your ideas?  A sharing session to summarise what has been learnt and what has been most valued and what CFA needs to understand for the future.
