Meet our Vision Australia panelists
Damian McMorrow: Access Technology Product Owner
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Information Technology from Griffith University, Damian McMorrow has spent over 23 years in the IT industry in a variety of roles, from running his own adaptive technology business, through to managing technical and service delivery teams across the education sector.
During this time, he has relied upon adaptive technology and equipment to help overcome a wide range of barriers and issues.
Damian then brought his experience and passion for technology to Vision Australia, previously as an access technology specialist, where he assisted clients in the use of technology for work, education, travel and leisure, and currently as national Access Technology Product Owner, which is the lead role for our Access Technology Service.
Matt Putland: Digital Accessibility Consultant
Matt has over four years’ experience working with digital accessibility, and works with clients to offer technical and remediation advice on how to make their websites or mobile applications accessible for all.
Matt is the lead facilitator of Vision Australia’s highly popular Web Accessibility Techniques and Testing course, and has delivered this training and other services to large corporations, banks, universities and not-for-profit organisations.
Bruce Maguire: Lead Policy Advisor
Bruce is blind and has a Master’s degree in Policy and Applied Social Research. Before joining Vision Australia in 2008, Bruce worked in the Disability Rights Unit at the Australian Human Rights Commission.
He has also been Chair of the Australian Braille Authority and President of the Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities. He also led Vision Australia’s research project into barriers to online learning experienced by university students who are blind or have low vision.
