Vision Australia has established a dedicated COVID-19 support line for the blind and low vision community.
You can call the Vision Australia COVID-19 support line on 1300 88 70 58 8.30am-7pm Monday to Friday AEST.
The support line is not an emergency resource. It is designed to help people who are blind or have low vision find and access information and troubleshoot COVID-19 related issues.
The support line is manned by Vision Australia staff, who will be able to help you access information about Vision Australia services, other blindness and low vision supports, the latest government restrictions and advice, and other resources to help you stay safe and connected.
Our team will be pulling information from a wide range of locations and if they can’t answer your question at the time of your call, they’ll do their best to look into it further and call you back.
You should not call the Vision Australia support line for medical advice.
For advice around possible exposure, access to testing or any other COVID-19 health matters, call the Australian Department of Health’s 24/7 COVID-19 hotline on 1800 020 080. You can also find the latest health advice at www.health.gov.au.
If you are concerned about your health, you should phone your regular doctor or nearest hospital, or in emergency situations call 000.
Vision Australia has also launched a series of free webinars to support people who are blind or have low vision to stay connected as well as access important information.
Check in and Chat webinars are held every Tuesday and Thursday. Find out more at www.visionaustralia.org/checkinandchat.
