If you want to learn new skills to travel confidently and safely in the community and find out how technology can help you navigate your way around, book your place in our six week independent travel program.
We have developed our group orientation and mobility training program for clients to learn and build on their individual orientation and mobility strategies.
During the comprehensive training program you will learn:
- Long cane strategies & orientation skills
- Navigating different types of road crossings and crowded places
- Public transport accessibility
- Using technology to navigate when out and about
Who is the programme designed for?
Anyone who has recently started using a long cane and would like to build on their orientation & mobility skills
You will need to have:
- Previously undertaken basic white cane training
- Moderate to high level of fitness
This is a group program and there will be a maximum of three people in a group. The program will run for six weeks and attendees will be required to attend each session
When: Sessions start on Thursday 12 November, 2020
Duration: 9am - 1pm
Location: Will vary for each session. Details will confirmed one week prior and participants notified for each session
Cost: Vision Australia will access NDIS or My Aged Care funding for individual attendees with MAC referrals
